Civil Engineering branch is one of the first two branches started in the year 1979-80. As on 1995, thirteen batches of students have passed out successfully. One student had secured first rank and two Gold Medals at the University level. The Department having well equipped laboratories and each laboratory is having all the equipments needed for it. The Department is having on its rolls, 14 well qualified and experienced staff.

Department of Mechanical Engineering is the largest department in the College in terms of numer of students and staff on rolls. Students are getting best possible training by a well organised, and dedicated staff having specialisation in Design, Production, Heat Transfer, Thermal and Metal casting. It has well equipped laboratories.

The branch of Electrical & Electronics Engineering has 10 well qualified and experienced teaching staff members. The Departmental laboratory is well equipped with required machinery and apparatus necessary to conduct all the experiments prescribed for B.E.(Electrical) Degree by the Bangalore University.The department has its own library, having a collection of 300 books, which is useful for Electrical Engg. Students.

Electronics branch has a total intake of 50 Students . The department is having on its rolls 14 qualified staff members, and three laboratory Instructors. Two full-fledged labs are available where 40 students can be accommodated simultaneouslty. Every year department conducts co-curricular and extra-curricular activities under the title "Electro-Tec", in which students exhibit their inherent talents. Every year many students are passing with first class and distinctions. In 1992-94 one of the final year students got Sixth Rank in the university. To keep phase with the present trend, a new branch, Telecommunication Engineering was started in the year 1991 with an intake of 30 students.

In the department of I.E.M, the students are exposed to areas of Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering and Management Techniques. The students will study the subjects like statistical quality control, operations Research, CAD/CAM, Financial management etc., which are of very vital importance from the point of view of recruitment in Industries. Thus, the students of I.E.M. have better and wider opportunities for jobs. Also, for the students, who wish to seek for M.B.A course, this course is a blessing as the students are studying most of the subjects of M.B.A., at the under graduate level itself.

The Computer Science and Engineering is growing with leaps and bounds with advanced technology. The Laboratory is equipped with LAN and UNIX server which supports 40 students at a time. Latest software packages relating to RDBMS, developments on network, Motif, X-Windows, simulation packages are provided. Special Computer time is also given to students community to support extra curricular, technical activities and project works along with regular academic activities. To open up inherent talent and skills of the students, the department conduct technical quiz, programming contest, technical talks, group discussion and technical essays under the banner 'INTERFACE'.15 qualified and experienced staff members are helping the students of the department to achieve the best results for the students.

 

MBA(Master Of Business Application)
Sri Siddhartha Institute of Management Studies (S.S.I.M.S) is another feather in the cap of SSES, established in 1997. The Institute of Management Studies conducts courses leading to M.B.A. degree conferred by the Bangalore University, Bangalore.

SPECIALISATION STREAM
A student must undertake a total of eleven electives / subjects. A candidate has to take a minimum of 6 courses in the specialisation stream to qualify in the each specialisation. As an alternative, if his / her dissertation topic is in a specialisation stream, he has to take a minimum of four more subjects in that stream. This is to facilitate some students to choose more than one specialisation stream (For example, dissertation in marketing plus four electives in marketing and six subjects in finance leads to specialisation in both marketing and finance.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Institute is having the latest computers for management students with advanced software packages. The lab is also equipped with Internet facilities. Internet lab has leased line from VSNL of 64 KBPS band width with 100 latest computers.

The Institute has highly qualified and experienced,professional core faculty members comprising of Ph.Ds and computer Engineers, MBAs, LL.B.s & M.E.s along with the visiting faculty drawn from reputed Industries and professional bodies, who will shape the future dynamic managers for excellence in their profession.

METHODOLOYG OF TEACHING
The methodology includes, Lectures, Audio-Visual, Case Studies, Role Plays, Group Exercises, Simulated Games, Seminars, Exhibitions, Workshops, Industrial Visits, Computer Usage and Interaction with business institutions and industry.

PLACEMENT & TRAINING
Every candidate is required to work on a summer assignment in a company or an organisation for six weeks during summer vacation between the second semesters and third semester. At the end of the training the candidate is required to get a certificate from the employer for having done the training satisfactorily.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS / TOURS
The Industrial tour is mandatory and is conducted under the Industry - Institute Interaction Programme (IIIP). S.S.I.M.S. maintains a close rapport and direct interaction with industrialists, executives and industries helps the students to validate their knowledge of the practical environment in which business operates.

MCA (Master Of Computer Application)
The Master of Computer Applications a Post Graduate Degree Programme was started in the year 1998-99 with an intake of 30 students, to fulfill the requirement of fast growing IT industries and to equipe Non-technical graduate with best Computer Skills. A separate Laboratory is established exclusively for MCA, which serves 40 students at a time. The laboratory is equipped with LAN, LINUX, UNIX, MULTIMEDIA PROGRAMMING, NETWORK PROGRAMMING and INTERNET PROGRAMMING. Special Computer times are given to the students to learn more. 10 qualified and experienced staff members are helping the students of the Department to achieve the best results.

SSIT is one of the educational Institute chosen by Microsoft's MicroUniv to train students in the latest Microsoft Tehnologies. This Industry Institute course will prepare the students in Networking, Web & Application Development Technologies.

HOSTEL FACILITY
The Institute offers separate hostels for Boys and Girls with well furnished rooms. We run our hostels in a green and peaceful environment which welcomes students. Copy of rules and regulations of the Hostel will be supplied to the candidates at the time of admission to the hostel.

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE
The Institute Library has about 20,000 books and subscribing for about 150 technical journals. The Library is kept open normally from 8-30 a.m. to 5-00 p.m. on working days. Books are issued to the students for home study. Apart from these books, there are Students Aid Society Books, Directorate of Social Welfare Organisation Book Bank and College Reference Section. There is also a reading room facility as a part of the Library service where the Dailies, Weeklies and Monthly magazines are provided for the general reading to the students in different major languages.

The Institute Information centre has a stock of latest edition of over 3000 books on a variety of management topics. The centre subscribes for over 15 management magazines and journals. The centre also has a collection of corporate annual reports pertaining to private / public sector undertakings and project reports on different areas of research. The library is laid out spaciously. Its eco-friendly environment provides calm and peaceful environment for learning.
